Electric Thunder (Girls Under 12 league team), coached by Ernie Villarreal and assisted by Frank Bandach, won the Area 11E Championship, defeating Cerritos by an official score of 3-2. "Thunder" won the game in the 8th round of Kicks from the Penalty Mark (a "Shootout") following a 1-1 tie in regulation and 2-2 tie after the second overtime. The girls were undefeated throughout the Area E playoffs, defeating some tough teams along the way. They earlier faced Cerritos in the 3rd round, defeating them by a score of 4 to 2. The girls racked up a total of 16 goals during the playoffs while giving up only 4 goals.
In the Section 11 Playoffs, Thunder won the first two games in their pool, beating Santee 3-0 and N. Irvine 4-0. They lost their bid to play in the championship game, however, when they dominated but lost their third pool game 3-0 to the eventual Section 11 Champions.
A "THUNDERous" ovation is in order for the young ladies pictured above!
