| 2002 McMillan Invitational GU12 Champs! |

Pictured here are the GU12 Division Champions of the McMillan Invitational plus team tournament held this Labor Day weekend in Costa Mesa. This is the same team, still wearing Purple, that competed in and won the GU11 division championship in the 2001 McMillan tournament--a repeat!
This year the tournament format was slightly different than last year's. There was no championship game. The champion from among five teams was determined by total points acquired during pool play. The "Girls in Purple" defeated South Irvine, 3-0, defeated Lake Forest 4-0, tied Newport Beach 1-1 and lost to Costa Mesa 0-1. An excellent offense and a superb defense combined to rack up enough points to ultimately surface as the division champs! It was a VERY competitive and VERY hot weekend, but the girls came through once again!
