Pictured here are the 2006 Los Alamitos Girls under 14 Cerritos Turkey Tournament Champions . The team, coached by Frank Destra and Pat Fast, finished the tournament with a record of 6-0 .
The road to the title was tough, as all but one game were decided by only one goal . The quarterfinal game was played against La Habra and went to a shootout after a 1-1 tie in regulation time . The shootout was exciting, as both teams sent 8 kickers to decide it The semifinal game was also exciting, as a determined Palos Verdes team and our girls held the game scoreless. With only minutes left in the match, the girls from the 159 hammered one to the back of the net .
The weekend was capped with a Final thriller against Cypress . Los Al, who would not be denied victory, again broke a 1-1 tie late in the second half to capture the Championship.
