| 2002 Ken Aston Cup GU12 Champs! |

AYSO Region 159's only entry in the 17th Annual Ken Aston Cup was a GU12 team put together by Coaches Robert Housley and Cyrus Sorooshian. The "Girls in Purple" took first in their pool with a 4-0 win over Rolling Hills, a 7-1 win over San Pedro, and an exciting 2-2 tie with Chino Hills. Los Al then went on to beat Walnut 3-1 in a Semi-Final game, only to meet up with Chino Hills again for the Championship. The Championship game ended in a 1-1 tie in regulation play and with no additional goals scored after two 8 minute overtime periods.
The Championship game was ultimately decided by Kicks from the Penalty Mark (a "shootout") after Los Al put three of five kicks into the net. On the final kick, Chino Hills had an opportunity to tie it up, but the Los Al goalkeeper managed to deflect a high kick with her finger-tips into the crossbar. The "Girls in Purple" won by an official final score of 2-1.
