This group of boys is the first Los Alamitos (Region 159) team to capture an Area E Championship in the last 10+ years. Before the tournament started, the coaches (Ernie Villarreal & John Davis) reminded the boys that no other Los Alamitos boys team had won an Area E crown in a long, long time (probably before they were born). They wanted to make history and so they did. Not only did they win, but they won in a convincing fashion. They won the title by posting a 6-0-0 record.
They scored a total of 18 goals while only giving up one goal. While the offense averaged 3 goals per game, the defense was remarkable. The defense went 20 quarters without giving up a goal. The final match was against the All-star team from La Mirada. Both teams came out strong by scoring a goal in the first quarter. Los Alamitos only became more determined and scored 2 more goals in the 2nd quarter. Los Al had 3 great opportunities to expand their lead in the 2nd half, but a strong La Mirada team refused to surrender. As the 2nd half carried on, it became obvious this Los Alamitos team was about to create history. The final whistle blew and Los Alamitos Region 159 boys program had their 1st Area E Title in many years.
